Synaptics SYN4383 and SYN43756(E) Tri-Band SoCs are Designed for IoT Devices, Automotive, and Industrial Applications

Nov 21, 2024 by admin

Synaptics has finally revealed the SYN4383 and the SYN43756(E) high-performance, compact tri-band SoCs, that integrate Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and IEEE 802.15.4 radios to optimize wireless connectivity for IoT devices. Both chips support Wi-Fi 6/6E with 2×2 MIMO antenna configurations, delivering up to 1200 Mbps throughput and enabling simultaneous 2.4 GHz and 5/6 GHz band operation for robust, real-time streaming and connectivity.

They are arranged for smart homes, automotive in-cabin entertainment, security, personal tracking, and industrial IoT applications. These SoCs feature advanced Bluetooth (5.3 in SYN43756(E) and 5.4 in SYN4383) with LE Audio for multiple audio streams and Bluetooth Channel Sounding for precise positioning, making them ideal for audio-centric and location-sensitive applications. Additionally, SYN4383 supports IEEE 802.15.4 for Zigbee and Thread protocols and is Matter-compliant for secure, interoperable connectivity in diverse wireless environments. Both chips include Smart Co-Ex technology, ensuring the effective coexistence of Wi-Fi and Bluetooth in the 2.4 GHz band, while reducing space, cost, power, and system complexity.

Previously, we have covered some SoCs for IoT devices including the Renesas RZ/G3S, the Moushik, the ExpressIf’s ESP32-C61, and many more. Feel free to check those out, if you are interested in this topic.

Synaptics Veros SYN4383 Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.4, 802.15.4 SoCs features and highlights:

  • Tri-Band 2×2 MIMO Wi-Fi 6E (802.11ax):
    • Up to 1200 Mbps throughput.
    • Real Simultaneous Dual-Band (RSDB) operation with 2.4 GHz and either 5 GHz or 6 GHz.
    • Backward compatibility with legacy Wi-Fi standards, including 802.11a/b/g/n/ac.
  • Bluetooth 5.4:
    • Compatible with Bluetooth 6.0.
    • Includes LE Audio for advanced audio streaming.
    • Supports Channel Sounding for precise positioning.
  • 802.15.4 Radio:
    • Provides support for Thread and Zigbee protocols.
  • complemented by an integrated T/R switch for optimized performance

The SYN43756(E) shares similarities with the SYN4383 but does not include an 802.15.4 radio or RSDB support. While it targets the same applications, it is not ideal for position tracking due to the absence of Channel Sounding. Designed as a cost-effective option, it suits applications that do not require an 802.15.4 radio, Wi-Fi RSDB, or the most advanced Bluetooth features.
